Director of Marketing and Promotions, Missouri State University Outreach

My passion is to help prospective and current Missouri State student’s enrich their lives through the attainment of their educational goals. I communicate the benefits of higher education on the web, in print and through social media channels. I formulate, execute and assess marketing campaigns specifically for Missouri State Outreach.

Computer Skills:

  • Proficient using both Macintosh and IBM computers.
  • Abobe Creative Suites including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, and Adobe XD.
  • OpenText (web site management)
  • WordPress

Art Direction and Management:

  • Interviewed, hired, trained and supervise one full-time graphic designer, a part-time designer and a graduate assistant.
  • Wrote and maintained a 80+ page operations manual outlining departmental policies and procedures used by departmental staff.
  • Completed and implemented five year strategic planning for the Outreach Marketing and Promotions department.
  • Manages an annual departmental operating budget of $100,000+.

Graphic Designer:

  • Meets our client’s marketing objectives on time, on target and within budget.
  • Formulates and implements yearly advertising campaigns in excess of $40,000.
  • Has worked closely with an integrated marketing specialist, performing market research, to assess the needs of our students and to deliver the most effective message within our advertising initiatives.
  • Utilizes Google Analytics for measuring effectiveness of advertising initiatives.
  • Supports Missouri State Outreach and the Office of the Provost by providing a wide range of creative recruitment materials.
  • Writes and produces ads, television and radio commercials for the satellite offices, as well as the Evening College Plus program and other Outreach units as needed.
  • Engages in email marketing and makes social media posts.
  • Works collaboratively with University offices including University Publications, Web and New Media, Admissions, Alumni Association, and University Communications office as needed to meet our specific marketing objectives.
  • Possesses strong project management skills coordinating production schedules with staff, photographers, etc.
  • Performs pre-press and press proofs of printed materials to insure quality expectations are met.
  • Prepares printing specifications to elicit bids from printers/publishers.
  • Versed in postal regulations governing nonprofit, bulk mailing.

Web Designer:

  • Maintain websites for Missouri State Outreach in excess of 570 pages. Websites examples may be viewed at:
  • Designed and built (but do not currently maintain) numerous university sites including:
    • Summer School
    • Jordan Valley Innovation Center (original on WayBack Machine)
    • Missouri State University China Programs
    • The Community and Social Issues Institute
    • Center for Continuing and Professional Education
    • Extended Campus
  • Works closely with web developer in applying Javascript and using PHP within sites.
  • Has completed online banner ads.
  • Builds websites in Dreamweaver, WordPress and in Web Press, Missouri State’s content management software.

Social Media Marketer:

  • Cyclically conducts a minimum of six Facebook campaigns annually. Provides Google Adwords, Instagram and Linkedin advertising as needed.
  • Utilizes assessment tools such as Google Analytics and Facebook Insights.
  • Have used free Supermetrics reporting templates. 
  • Manages/oversees 13 university Facebook pages, 1 Instagram account, 2 Twitter accounts, and 1 LinkedIn account. 

Content Writer:

  • Writes content for the Web, social media ads, television and radio commercials for the satellite offices, as well as the Evening College Plus program and other Outreach units as needed.
  • Follows AP Style.

Email marketer:

  • Has performed email marketing using Fire Engine Red software since 2013 generating 470+ emails.

Photographer:

  • Utilizes a Canon T7i taking photos for Missouri State. Photos generally  used within social media campaigns and for the web. Greatest number of photos taken within classrooms at our satellite locations.
  • Experienced at tonal adjustment, retouching and manipulation of photos using Adobe Photoshop.
